On 3rd of October, Her Majesty the Queen Mother Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck granted an audience to our Country Representative and former CEO of RENEW Microfinance Pvt. Ltd.
She thanked Mr. Bernd Baehr for his leadership in successfully setting up a microfinance institution in Bhutan. With the full support from the German Sparkassenstiftung and Short-Term-Experts from the Partner-Sparkasse Germersheim-Kandel and others, Mr. Baehr worked in Bhutan for more than seven years.
RENEW Microfinance Pvt. Ltd. provides financial services to those in need, especially women with low income and their families in rural Bhutan, to improve their quality of life.
Operating in 11 districts in Bhutan RENEW Microfinance covers now more than 50% of the country.
With more than 27,000 clients, the institution is firmly established in Bhutan’s financial sector.

Her Majesty bid farewell to Mr. Baehr after seven years of his service and contribution to RENEW Microfinance and wished him the best for his future endeavours.
