Our Vietnamese colleague Ms. Hong Nguyen has just completed a staff development exchange program and came back to the Hanoi office from Germany. This marked a milestone in the meaningful partnership between DSIK and our project partner Sparkassen in Essen and Lörrach-Rheinfelden. To intensify the relationship between DSIK and partner Sparkassen, as well as to encourage DSIK’s staff development for local employees, DSIK Vietnam commenced an exchange program, in which selected staff is seconded to the Sparkassen to learn more about the institutions and to be able to represent their business model and take it to the world.
During the program, Ms. Hong had the opportunity to get involved to the work of some core departments of the local banks in Germany. The program started with getting to know about the overall economic situation and how it affects the Sparkassen and their customers. An overview of institutional history, general operations, key indicators, sustainability management and social commitment activities was followed with deep insights into selected departments, including marketing, data analytics, and asset evaluation for bank collateral. Also, some field trips were not to be missed, in which Ms. Hong visited Sparkassen branches in Essen to see the bank from the customer’s perspective, as well as a real estate asset evaluation of a property in Lörrach-Rheinfelden.
The trip was quite packaged in only a week, but excessively informative and meaningful. The event was highly praised by all sides and considered a success.
Sparkasse Essen is one of the earliest project partners of DSIK as the partnership was initiated in the early nineties. Ever since, it has been promoting and advising projects of German Sparkassenstiftung with a focus on Asia. The actual partnership with Sparkasse Lörrach-Rheinfelden started in Feb 2022. In the scope of these partnerships, both Sparkassen have been sending numerous experts to support our project partners on site, playing a key role in DSIK’s activities.
